Tragedy in Vinhedo: Plane with 62 people on board crashes in the interior of SP; Video shows the moment of the fall

A commercial plane with 58 passengers on board and four crew members crashed in the Capela neighborhood, in Vinhedo (SP), early this Friday afternoon (9). The aircraft, an ATR-72 model turboprop, belongs to Voepass Linhas Aéreas, previously known as Passaredo. The flight departed from Cascavel (PR) bound for Guarulhos (SP). Local police and rescue teams were quickly mobilized to the scene. So far, there is no information about victims. Voepass mobilized all resources to support those involved. So far, there is no confirmation on how the accident occurred or on the condition of the people on board, the company said. However, Vinhedo city hall issued a statement stating that there are no survivors.

The Military Police informed EPTV that it was called at 1:28 pm to respond to an incident on Rua João Edueta, close to the Miguel Melhado de Campos highway (SP-324), and immediately sent teams to the scene. According to Vinhedo City Hall, the aircraft crashed inside the Recanto Florido residential condominium. Hospitals in Vinhedo and the neighboring city of Valinhos (SP) are being prepared to receive possible victims. Seven teams from the Fire Department, Civil Defense and Military Police are on site providing assistance. According to Osmir Cruz, Security Secretary of Vinhedo, the aircraft crashed near an inhabited residence, but no one there was injured.
Investigation
The Brazilian Air Force announced that investigators from the Fourth Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA IV), a regional unit of Cenipa located in São Paulo, are already on their way to carry out the "Initial Action" of the incident. According to the government of São Paulo, governor Tarcísio de Freitas, who was in Vitória (ES) to participate in meetings of the South and Southeast Integration Consortium (Cosud), is returning to the state of São Paulo and will head to the municipality of Vinhedo to monitor the teams’ work.

The aircraft took off from Cascavel/PR bound for Guarulhos, with 58 passengers and 4 crew on board. VOEPASS used all means to support those involved. "The management of Cascavel Regional Airport informs that it is awaiting information from the airline Passaredo, which, at the moment, is the only body that holds official information. A standard emergency operation led by the Airport team is underway to contact the families of potential victims.
