Tragedy in Northern Bahia: Collision between truck and tourist bus leaves 25 dead and 5 injured
The accident occurred on Sunday night (07), on BR-324, near the city of São José do Jacuípe. Twenty-five people lost their lives, with 24 of them dying at the scene of the incident.

A serious accident involving a truck and a tourist bus on Sunday night (07), resulted in the death of 25 people and left five others injured. The incident occurred in BR-324 in a section of the city ofSão José do Jacuípe, in the north of Bahia, about 290 km from Salvador.The coordinator of the Anjos Jacuipenses Brigade, Lucival Souza, who played a crucial role in rescuing the victims, reported that the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm, at kilometer 381, near the city of Gavião, towards Jacobina.
Victims
Twenty-two people on board the bus and three in the truck, which was transporting mangoes, lost their lives. The tragic accident resulted in a total of 25 victims, 24 of whom died at the scene of the incident. The victims include men, women, a pregnant woman, children and teenagers. One person died after being taken to a hospital in the region. The cause of the collision is still unknown.
According to information from the Anjos Jacuipenses Brigade, one of the injured was taken to the hospital in the city of Capim Grosso, while five other people received treatment at a health unit in Nova Fátima. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) announced that four injured were transferred to hospitals in Salvador and Feira de Santana. The bus occupants lived in Jacobina and had traveled on Saturday night (06) to Guarajuba beach, a tourist district of Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. The return to the municipality took place on Sunday night. According to the PRF, the runway, which was closed, was reopened around 8 am.
Jacobina City Hall
In an official statement, Jacobina City Hall expressed regret over what happened and announced a three-day mourning period in the municipality as a result of the accident. Furthermore, he reported that he is organizing a mass wake at the local sports hall, with no date and time defined yet. The municipal administration is committed to speeding up the release and transfer of bodies to Jacobina.The bodies of the victims were taken to the Technical Police Departments (DPTs) in the cities of Jacobina,Euclides da Cunha, Juazeiro It isLord of Bonfim.
Other announcements
The State Agency for the Regulation of Public Energy, Transport and Communications Services of Bahia (Agerba) clarified that the bus involved in the incident was in good condition, and the driver had up-to-date registration. In turn, the company Naldo Turismo, responsible for the bus, issued a note of condolences, expressing solidarity with the families of the victims. The company actively collaborates with Jacobina City Hall to speed up the release of bodies and facilitate transport to the municipality.
During a session at the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (Alba), the state governor, Jerônimo Rodrigues, stated that the Government took immediate measures to try to preserve lives, mobilizing vehicles and seeking places in hospitals.
