The Oscars are the most anticipated film awards, where the best films, directors, actors and actresses are recognized for their talent and the impact their works have had on the film industry. This year the film "Oppenheimer" was the absolute highlight of the 2024 Oscars, which took place last Sunday (10) in Los Angeles, winning seven statuettes, thus confirming its favoritism. As the most nominated production of this edition, the film about the “father” of the atomic bomb" took home awards in important categories, such as best film, direction (Christopher Nolan), best actor (Cillian Murphy) and best supporting actor (Robert Downey Jr.).
After a short delay, the awards ceremony took place without any major problems or scares and, to be fair, it didn't bring many surprises either. The vast majority of favorites emerged victorious. In the Best Actress category, the only one among the main ones that many considered competitive, Emma Stone ("Poor Creatures") came out as the winner. As a result, his film became the second biggest winner, with four awards. The awards ceremony also focused on passionate speeches and changes to the ceremony's long-standing traditions. In 2024, the Academy expanded on a long-standing custom and brought in five past winners from each acting category to present the awards.
Barbie was one of the most nominated films at the awards, totaling eight categories, but ended up only winning the statuette for Best Original Song for the song "What Was I Made For?", by Billie Eilish. However, Ryan Gosling's memorable performance of "I'm Just Ken"left a strong mark throughout. "Anatomy of a Fall", in addition to bringing the dog Messi to the ceremony, after the controversy, also won an award, this time for Best Original Screenplay.
