He was found dead at his residence in Taboão da Serra this Thursday morning (13). The Public Security Secretariat reported that the artist's domestic incident was initially registered as a "suspicious death".

Singer Nahim, known for his remarkable career in the 1980s and 1990s, died this Wednesday morning (13), aged 71, Taboão da Serra, in the greater São Paulo. According to information from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the case was initially registered as a suspicious death. The artist's body was found lifeless in his residence. It is still unclear what the cause of death was, but it is believed that he may have fallen from a staircase, which is the main suspect.
According to the first information, Nahim recently moved to the place after divorcing Andreia Andrade. Neighbors, who were interviewed by SBT, reported that Nahim was well known and loved in the neighborhood. An employee of a telephone company, who was carrying out an installation on the street where Nahim lives, claimed to have seen the singer's body. He immediately called the police, who arrived at the scene and confirmed the artist's death. As soon as they received the news of his death, Nahim's family went to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to recognize the body.
Artistic trajectory
Nahim, whose real name was José de Paula Neto, who was born in Miguelopolis, interior of the state, gained notoriety in the Brazilian music scene with hits that marked generations. Among his most famous songs are "Dá Coração", "Taka Taka" and "Coração de Melão". The artist began his musical career at the age of 10, launching his first group called New Edition. In 1980 he recorded his debut album in Portuguese. The singer caught the attention of music producer Mister Sam, who discovered him. At the time, Nahim adopted the stage name Baby Face and recorded two singles in English.
In total, more than 14 albums and 86 songs were released. His unique and charismatic style won him a legion of fans, consolidating his position as one of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music. In addition to his musical career, Nahim also appeared on television programs, but achieved great popularity when participating in talk shows and became the winner of the "What is Music?" from the Silvio Santos Program, broadcast on SBT.
Nahim spent time on TV Globo as a judge on the program "Cassino do Chacrinha". In the 2000s, he also presented and participated in programs on RecordTV and RedeTV!, establishing himself as one of the rare professionals to work on almost all of the main television stations in Brazil. He also participated in reality shows, such as "Cante se Puder" (2012), "O Aprendiz" (2014), "A Fazenda 9" (2017) and "Power Couple Brasil" (2022).
Personal life
In 2019, Nahim was featured in police news. He was arrested for failing to comply with the protection measure established in favor of his ex-wife. He would have gone to visit the former couple's dogs in the house where they lived together, which put him in greater proximity to her than permitted by law. The woman had reported him for aggression and threats, as had another of the artist's ex-wife. At the time, the identity of the complainants was kept confidential. The following year, in 2020, he decided to run for councilor in São Paulo, but was unsuccessful in the election.
