The Legal Medical Institute (IML), in Taboão da Serra, in Greater São Paulo, concluded the autopsy report on the death of singer Nahim, known for his success in the 1980s and for his participation in reality shows in recent years. The document reveals that the causes of death were a combination of cocaine intoxication and head trauma. The singer, whose real name is Nahim Jorge Elias Júnior, was found dead at his home on June 13th.

According to the document from the Technical-Scientific Police Superintendence, Nahim's death was caused by exogenous intoxication due to cocaine ingestion and traumatic brain injury. According to forensics, Nahim may have lost consciousness or even suffered a sudden death due to cocaine, which would have caused the fall that resulted in head trauma. The experts stated that the skull fracture cannot be ruled out as a direct cause of the artist's death, nor as a factor that may have contributed to it.
According to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), the toxicological examination detected the presence of sedatives in Nahim's body, but these would not have a direct effect on his death. The document detailing the cause of the singer's death was sent to the 1st Civil Police District of Taboão da Serra, which was investigating the case as a suspicious death. The local police station, after analysis, found no evidence of crime and sent a final report to the Court. Based on this report, the Public Prosecutor's Office must request the investigation to be closed, considering the death as accidental.
The police investigation heard statements from witnesses who found Nahim's body, as well as those close to the artist, including his ex-wife and friends. Employees of a telephone company reported seeing the singer lying near the stairs of his residence and immediately called the police. Civil police officers searched security cameras for images that could help clarify the circumstances of Nahim's death, but found no relevant records. During the testimony at the police station, some witnesses confirmed that the singer used "sporadic or recreational" cocaine.
The artist
Nahim, born in Miguelópolis, in the interior of São Paulo, gained notoriety in the Brazilian music scene with hits that marked generations. Among his best-known songs are "Dá Coração", "Taka Taka" and "Coração de Melão". His musical career began at the age of 10, when he launched his first group, New Edition. In 1980, he made his debut album in Portuguese and caught the attention of music producer Mister Sam, who discovered him. At the time, Nahim adopted the stage name Baby Face and released two singles in English.
Throughout his career, he has released more than 14 albums and 86 songs. His unique and charismatic style earned him a legion of fans and consolidated his position as one of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music. In addition to his musical career, Nahim also appeared on television programs and gained great popularity after winning the "What is Music?" on the Silvio Santos Program, broadcast on SBT.
Nahim also made history on TV Globo as a judge on the iconic program "Cassino do Chacrinha". In the 2000s, he also had a prominent presence in RecordTV and on RedeTV!, becoming one of the few professionals to work on almost all of the main television stations in Brazil. In addition, he participated in several reality shows, including "Cante se Puder" (2012), "O Aprendiz" (2014), "A Fazenda 9" (2017) and "Power Couple Brasil" (2022).
