Hacker Delgatti is sentenced to 20 years in prison for leaking messages from Lava Jato authorities
Delgatti played a significant role in hacking devices belonging to authorities involved in the Lava Jato operation. The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) formally accused him within the scope of Operation Spoofing.

O Hacker Walter Delgatti Neto was convicted this Monday (21) to a sentence of 20 years and 1 month in prison as part of Operation Spoofing, an investigation that focuses on the leak of conversations involving authorities related to Operation Lava Jato. At the moment, Delgatti is under arrest, however, his current arrest is the result of another investigation.
This new investigation seeks to clear up suspicions that he allegedly received payment from congresswoman Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) in exchange for invading electronic systems of the Judiciary. The judge responsible for sentencing in Operation Spoofing, Ricardo Augusto Soares Leites, who acts as a deputy in the 10th Federal Court of the Federal District, said that it was proven that several authorities were the target of hacker attacks. According to the judge, the extent of the victims is vast and could result in numerous opportunities for extortion.
“Its cyber attacks were directed at several public authorities, especially agents responsible for criminal prosecution, in addition to several other individuals who have social prominence, just checking the accounts that had content exported. He is a repeat offender, as evidenced by his criminal record and has other criminal records", declared the judge.
Soares Leite also pointed out that Delgatti even offered to sell the hacked material to the press for an amount of R$ 200 thousand. The magistrate emphasized Walter's indisputable leadership in the criminal organization, which took advantage of the opportunities provided by each of the accused, a determining factor that contributed to the success of criminal activities.
In addition, other people who collaborated with Delgatti were also convicted. Gustavo Henrique Elias Santos, received a sentence of 13 years and 9 months in prison. Thiago Eliezer Martins Santos to a sentence of 18 years and 11 months, Suelen Priscila De Oliveira to a sentence of 6 years, and Danilo Cristiano Marques to a sentence of 10 years and 5 months.
Operation Spoofing
In 2019, an operation was launched with the purpose of investigating the invasion and interception of private messages that involved the then Minister Sérgio Moro and other authorities through the Telegram application. At that time, Moro served as the judge in charge of Operation Lava Jato. in the first instance of the Federal Court, located in Curitiba, before assuming a position in the government of Jair Bolsonaro.
In his testimony, Delgatti confessed to the Federal Police that he had accessed the accounts from Lava Jato prosecutors and shared the messages with The Intercept Brasil website. He stated that he made no changes to the content of the messages and received no payment for his actions.
Investigators allege that hackers managed to access the code sent by the servers of the Telegram application to victims' mobile devices, allowing them to open a browser version of the app. According to the Federal Police, approximately 1,000 different telephone numbers were the target of this same method during the investigation.
CPI of Coup Acts
During his testimony to the CPI on the Coup Acts of Congress last week, Delgatti brought up the conversation involving Zambelli and former president Jair Bolsonaro. The hacker claimed that, in a meeting with Bolsonaro's campaign team, he received guidance to create a fictitious "source code", in order to suggest that the electronic voting machine had vulnerabilities and could be the target of fraud.
Delgatti said that the deputy took him to a meeting with Bolsonaro at the official residence of the Palácio da Alvorada, shortly before the 2022 elections. At that meeting, as reported by Delgatti, the then president assured that he would grant a presidential pardon to him, in case he was arrested or convicted for his activities related to electronic voting machines.
Delgatti informed that he provided guidance to the Ministry of Defense technicians responsible for preparing the official report on the folder's electronic voting machines. This report was later sent to the TSE in November 2022. Although the report did not identify any trends in voter fraud, it recommended that the TSE make "adjustments" to the electoral system.
It is noteworthy that these recommendations have already been technically rejected by oversight bodies. Furthermore, the report in question stated that it could not ensure the "exemption" of electronic voting machines.
