Google just announced the launch of new privacy tools, with a view to providing users with greater control over your unwanted personal images on the Internet. With these policy updates, the company is working to ensure that explicit or graphic photos are not easily displayed in search results.

These new measures will allow users to easily remove non-consensual and explicit images of themselves if they no longer wish to be visible in online searches. This initiative aims to protect users' privacy and well-being, offering them more control over their digital presence and avoiding embarrassments resulting from unwanted images.

New update

The update implies that if someone has created and posted explicit content on a website and no longer wants it to be displayed in Google search results, you will be able to request removal of that content. In addition, the forms for making these requests have been simplified. It is important to note that this policy does not apply to images that users are currently actively marketing. In addition, the policy also covers websites that cater to personal information.

Other updates

Google also has plans to release a new dashboard, initially only available in the US in English, that will allow users to access search results that reached your contact information. With this tool, users will be able to easily request removal of these results from Google. In addition, the tool will send notifications to users whenever new results containing their information appear in searches.

Another novelty is the implementing a blur setting in SafeSearch default on Google search for users who don't already have the SafeSearch filter turned on. As a result, explicit images, adult content or violent graphics will automatically be blurred in search results. It is worth noting that this setting can be disabled at any time, unless the user is on a supervised public network that keeps this setting as default and blocked.

For example, when performing a search for images related to "lesson", explicit content will be automatically obfuscated, preventing users from viewing inappropriate graphic material. This protection measure was initially announced by Google in February and will be made available globally starting in August.
