More than 10 million individuals have outstanding amounts receivable. Those who carried out activities with registration in the portfolio in the period between 1971 and 1988 can claim this benefit.

The PIS/PASEP was extinguished in April 2020, through Provisional Measure 946/2020 - Photo Reproduction/Internet

Closes this Saturday (05)the deadline for 10.5 million workers to be able to withdraw the amount of BRL 25 billion in PIS/Pasep quotas, referring to the period from 1971 to 1988, which had already been considered "forgotten". The withdrawal process began on June 7, and, according to Caixa Econômica Federal, only R$745 million of that amount had been redeemed by June 30, generated in 513,000 payments made by the bank.

If the withdrawal is not carried out within this period, the funds will be directed to the National Treasury, and the amounts transferred must take place by August 20th. However, it is important to highlight that it will still be possible to request the amount back, since there is a period of up to 5 years to make this request. The necessary procedures for reimbursement have not yet been disclosed.

PIS/Pasep

PIS and PASEP were benefits intended for different groups of workers. The social integration program (PIS) is aimed at employees of private companies that are governed by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) and are managed by Caixa Econômica Federal. In contrast, the Civil Servant Equity Formation Program (PASEP) is intended for civil servants and civil servants governed by the Statutory Legal Regime, being administered by Banco do Brasil.

However, the Fund PIS/PASEPfwas extinguished in April 2020, through Provisional Measure 946/2020, during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro, in a virtual session. Despite this, it is important to highlight that the salary bonus, a benefit paid to workers who met the requirements, was maintained.

In addition, it is relevant to differentiate the salary bonus quotas in the context of PIS/PASEP. The payment of the PIS/PASEP quota is different from the salary bonus and is paid monthly to workers who meet the required requirements. The average value of the quotas corresponds to R$ 2.3 thousand, however, the individual amount of each beneficiary varies according to the time worked in the period and the salary earned at that time.

Withdrawal of quotas

Withdrawal of FGTS quotas can be carried out completely online, through the FGTS application, dispensing with the need to go personally to a Caixa Econômica Federal branch. Checking eligibility for withdrawal can also be done directly in the app. If the holder has died, his heirs have the right to withdraw the amounts, provided that they present the appropriate documents that prove their right to receive them.

Withdrawal is available for those who had a formal employment relationship between 1971 and 1988. This condition covers both the work of the private sector and public servants who did not have their PIS/Pasep quotas redeemed in the stable period. Same after the taxpayer's death, it is possible to withdraw the shares, provided that a duly documented heir or beneficiary makes the request. It is worth noting that the amount available for withdrawal does not correspond to a minimum wage. The quotas refer to the residual balance of the amounts credited.

You formal workers have the option to consult and request the withdrawal of the values related to PIS through the FGTS application, from Caixa Econômica Federal, or go to a branch of the bank. already the public servants are entitled to the PASEP and must consult the balance and request withdrawal at Banco do Brasil (BB). To request a withdrawal through the FGTS application, workers must select the option "Do you have a withdrawal available" and then "Request a PIS/Pasep withdrawal", being able to choose between the withdrawal method: account credit or face-to-face service .

The worker has the option of receiving the withdrawal in his bank account, regardless of the chosen financial institution. If you prefer to receive the funds in cash, you can do so using the "citizen card" at lottery units or Caixa self-service terminals, up to a limit of R$ 3,000.

Applications at bank branches

Case the withdrawal is made in person at the branch, it will be necessary to present an official document containing a photo, such as: Identity Card, Driver's License (new model of the Functional Card recognized by Decree), Military Identity Card, Foreigners' Identity Card or Passport issued in Brazil or abroad. If the worker has an individual account at Caixa, with a positive balance and movement in recent months, the amount will be deposited directly into that account.

Requests from heirs

Generally, the beneficiaries who are entitled to withdraw these amounts are widows or widowers. In addition, children under the age of 21 from other marriages or relationships are also entitled, and the division of these benefits must be made equally. To request the withdrawal of benefits, the heir must follow a few steps and present the following documents: identification, work card of the deceased holder and death certificate. In addition, it is necessary to provide the deceased's PIS/PASEP and NIS registration number, which can be received from the company where the person was assisted, if this information was not already available.

It is also essential to present a statement from the INSS that proves the heir's dependence on the deceased participant. This statement can be requested through the “Meu INSS” portal when applying for the death pension. In the case of public servants, it is mandatory to present the certificate or statement of dependents eligible for the death pension resident by the employer, which identifies the full name of the dependent, birth data and degree of kinship or dependency relationship with the deceased participant. Alternatively, it is possible to use a court order that designates the beneficiaries of the withdrawal.

If this permit does not mention the participant's death, it is necessary to present a death certificate or, alternatively, a public deed of inventory. Another valid option is the formal sharing of the records of the judicial process of inventory/enrollment or the public deed of extrajudicial sharing drawn up by the notary of the notary's office. If no dependents are entitled to a death benefit, the successors will need to provide a signed withdrawal authorization stating that there are no other known dependents or successors. In addition, you must present the death certificate and a copy of the official identification document of each of the dependents or successors.

In situations where Caixa Econômica Federal denies withdrawals, it will be necessary to follow up with a lawsuit. In case of doubt, interested parties can contact the following telephone numbers: 4004-0104 (for capitals and metropolitan regions) or 0800 104 0104 (for other regions).
