Champion surfer from Rio escapes unharmed after car is dragged by truck on BR-376, in Paraná
The accident resulted in five people with minor injuries and one person with moderate injuries. The athlete was heading to Santa Catarina to participate in a competition.

O surfer and carioca champion, Theo Fresia, was involved in a pileup with 14 vehicles on Sunday morning (2), on BR-376, in Guaratuba, on the coast of Paraná. The vehicle he was in was dragged by a truck. According to Theo, they were on their way to Santa Catarina to participate in a surf competition. On social media, the athlete mentioned what happened, expressing: "I lost the car, I don't have insurance, I'm anglicizing myself".
Accident
The car he was in,accompanied by surfer Luan Carvalho, was completely destroyed, but both occupants were unharmed. Five people suffered minor injuries, while one person had moderate injuries. According to the athlete, the boards that were inside the vehicle remained intact.

The accident was captured by surveillance cameras from Arteris Litoral Sul. The video records the moment when an uncontrolled truck collides with at least 14 cars on the BR-376, located in Guaratuba, on the coast of Paraná. The incident resulted in six people being injured. The highway, at kilometer 666, was closed for a few hours for the removal of vehicles.
In the images, the presence of the three lanes of the highway in a curve, where there are queues of vehicles, is noticeable. Then, the truck loaded with machinery on the back collides with the cars, dragging them for a moment before coming to a stop.
Theo Fresia
Theo Fresia started his surfing career at the age of eight, on Praia de Geribá. This new chapter in his life came about thanks to the influence of his older brother, Yuri, who decided to learn to surf at a public school. Always the youngest in the family, Theo has always displayed a competitive nature when competing with his brothers, and this propelled him into competition surfing at the age of 10, starting on the city's municipal circuit.
However, due to the pandemic, Theo was forced to interrupt his training and help with household chores, taking on a job as a motorcycle courier. Previously, to supplement his income, he had already found a creative solution by offering surf lessons through videos, with detailed step-by-step instructions on how to start practicing this sport. Later, he advanced to face-to-face classes, which gained enormous importance due to his hard work as an instructor. In the year 2021, the big events have returned, including the QS worlds, and Fresia has embarked on her third year competing in the WSL league.
